Kinetic Metallization is used to cold spray a reinforcing Metal Matrix Composite structure onto an aluminum substrate. This process is known as "spray forming" and is a form of additive manufacturing. The precision of the KM process eliminates the need for masking in this case, as only the desired surface area of the aluminum substrate is sprayed.
